For high-net-worth individuals in Iran, pursuing global mobility, long-term security, and access to international opportunities is more critical than ever. According to OECD data, Iran recorded the fastest global migration growth between 2020 and 2021, with migrant numbers surging from 48,000 to 115,000, a 141% increase.
Today, estimates of the Iranian diaspora range from four to ten million people. Turkey has emerged as a key destination, with Iranians leading real estate investment and establishing 1,661 companies between 2020 and 2021. In 2011, Iranians were reported to have invested nearly $400 billion in the United States, nearly equal to Iran’s GDP.
As of 2025, the Iranian passport ranks 173rd out of 199 countries, with visa-free access to just 21 nations. It provides unrestricted access to only 10.55% of the world, making international travel extremely limited for Iranian nationals.
Golden Visas offer residency through investments (from EUR 250,000) but often require years of residency before citizenship. Citizenship by Investment (CBI) programmes, by contrast, provide full citizenship within 4 to 6 months from USD 130,000 and include family members, offering immediate benefits and access to 140+ countries.
Despite political challenges, Iranians still have access to select RCBI programmes, including those in the Caribbean, Portugal, and Turkey, though conditions may apply.
Iranians may apply if they’ve migrated before age of majority or have lived in countries like the US, UK, or UAE for 10+ years. Citizenship is available via a USD 230,000 contribution or real estate from USD 300,000.
Applications are allowed with strict enhanced due diligence. Fees: $25,000 for the main applicant, $15,000 for a spouse or dependent over 16, and $10,000 for dependents under 16, in addition to an investment from USD 200,000.
Turkish citizenship can be obtained via a $400,000 real estate purchase, $500,000 deposit or bond, or employing 50 Turkish nationals. It offers access to over 110 countries and dual nationality.
Portugal’s Golden Visa is available to Iranians with investments from EUR 250,000. It offers Schengen access, minimal stay requirements, and citizenship eligibility after 5 years—without full relocation. No nationality-based restrictions apply.
A second passport provides access to travel, financial security, and educational opportunities. For Iranian nationals, it’s more than a benefit—it's a lifeline.
